Nous avons quitté Paris tôt mardi matin (croyez-moi que c’était très tôt… pour nous… nous ressentions toujours les effets du décalage horaire) à cause de la grève des transports qui commençait plus tard dans l’après-midi. Nous sommes arrivées à Lyon vers 10h00 une journée plus tôt que prévue. Notre hôte Jacques nous a fait visiter Lyon toute la journée. Nous avons voyagé sur un funiculaire (je crois que c’est comme ça que sa s’appelle) et ça nous a emmené au travers une montagne.
Quand nous sommes arrivés au sommet, nous avons fait une visite guidée de la basilique. C’était tellement différent de la Notre-Dame de Paris… mais quand même très beau! Il y avait des muraux élaborés et des photos avec des incrustations en or… c’était splendide! Les photos suivantes ont été prises derrière la basilique avec une vue du haut sur Lyon. Renversant!
Ensuite, nous sommes retournés dans les rues. On peut même voir un peu de la basilique qu’on a visité.

We left Paris early Tuesday morning (let me tell you it was really early… for us…. we were still under the effects of jetlag) because the transportation strike was taking place later on in the afternoon. We got to Lyon at 10-ish a day earlier than expected. Our host, Jacques took us around in Lyon all day. We went up the funicular (I think that’s what it is called the cable car) and it brought us through inside the mountain.
When we got to the top, we took a tour of the basilica. It was so different from the Notre-Dame de Paris… but very beautiful nonetheless! There were elaborate murals and pictures with gold inlay … it was very awesome! The following pictures were taken right behind the basilica. It was a top view of Lyon. Talk about breathtaking! 
Then, we returned to the streets. If you look closely, you’ll see the basilica that we took a short tour of.
